Cable Throttle Setup Adjustment Info Needed

I took off a cable throttle assembly off of a 200 Fairmont at the JY and hooked it up to the pedal assembly that is bolted to the floor.
There is a problem in that there is too much cable slack and the pedal will not operate the throttle arm.
Is there supposed to be some type of adjustment that can be made to take up the play?

The Fairmont cable needs to be secured, otherwise it just springs on itself.
There is a mounting bracket that fits on the side of the motor and extends over the valve cover.

That bracket is mounted. The problem is that the cable is protruding from the sheave too far where it attaches to the pedal arm.
I am wondering if this will have to be shortened.
I can see no way to adjust the cable from the mount to the carb throttle arm.

That's strange, because that sounds like a fairly stock set-up. :|
How about a picture of the problem?

I'm thinking that the distance is much shorter in the Falcon than the Fairmont thus the extra length. I certainly haven't thought of my cable at all so I don't know if it can be adjusted out or shortened.
