Universal 1V Carb

Chucks Ranchero

New member
After struggling with the Carter YF that was "adapted" to fit the 200 in my 61 Ranchero, going through a rebuild, swapping for a rebuilt from Rock Auto, I switched to the Daytona Universal 1V offered by Classic Inlines. What a difference ! Up and operating after about 30 minutes worth of work to install. Came with a variety of linkage fittings that made it easy to get a nice throttle linkage fit.

Don't know the exact CFM specs of model that I got. I had some concerns that the Universal might not flow as well as a Carter, but it is much peppier than the Carter.

Highly recommended !

Chuck

What it is...a proper American continent, Argentinian made replacement for the two sizes of 1904 Holley/Autolite/Motorcraft branded replacement for Ford's 223, 144/170 carbs.

It looks like it has the Percy Adjust-a-jet internal parts so any jet size can be created by angular turning of a restriction slide.

There is a similar carb by DPC but from Champion branded bigger 63-69 model year Ford Replacement 1904/1908/1940/Autolite 1100 replacement, also with the Adjust-a-jet.

How well will the 1V Unv. carb do with the CI CSC-264-HSP-12
264/264-112* Hydraulic Cam ? Like you said I don't see any CFM rating for the carb

Hello FSP Folks, it's been a while since I've been active on the forum. Fortunately work and the rust-stang ;) have been going steady, but just recently the upper air horn casing on my 1100 vaporizer fractured at the inline fuel filter boss & threading. Long story short that may be a $400+ crack as repair on that aluminum alloy casting is dicey and I won't run the risk of a massive fuel leak going down the road.

I'm exploring 1V replacement options and am curious how the members on this thread are liking their universal 1v's from Classic Inlines.

Falkon, I read your build and dyno post. Great job! I am curious for any further feedback or follow up you, Chuck (of Chucks Ranchero) or any other members can offer on regular driving with this carb :

My setup is a frequent driver, so I'm looking for a solid, dependable 1v carb option, and wondering if this might fit the bill.

Thanks in advance!
Robert
