Surely this has come up, but I wanted to record it here.
If you have had to replace your timing cover like I did, and only have an early model one available, please note that it will not have a mounting hole for the alternator on its right side.
66 and up do. Some 65 and under do not afaik.
The alternator bracket can be modified to use the 2 standoffs on the block, but you need to add a piece to hit the back hole.
