alternator swap

Could someone let me know if it is a straight swap from a 6 cylinder 60 Amp alternator to a 289 100 Amp one?
Any wiring, mounting, electrical issues?
Thanks,
Nick.

The answer is no. Unless you need a bazillion watt stereo, a 60 amp is plenty. As far as mounting, that's another issue nobody could answer. Too many variables. IMO the best way to go is a Delco 10SI. Wiring is simple. Gets rid of that fugly blue box known as a voltage regulator. Cheap and reliable, just like my GF. Also easily replaced.

Or you could install a Ford product:

Many on this forum are upgrading to the 3G as Mr. Fish is showing on his car. I believe he is using a 95 amp Taurus alt and he has info on his swap in a previous post. The GM10SI is also widely used and you can search info on that swap on this site. I want to duplicate the 95 amp swap. By time I get an electric radiator fan, big audio amp and possibly heated seats it should do the trick.

That's the big 3g. The shop said it was putting out 130amps.
I guess that's enough to run my AM radio with one speaker. :rolflmao:
