Hey all,

Engine is ready to be picked up, distributor is curved, and I'm ready to break this bad boy in. Only thing I have left to do is pick a carb. Quick rundown of engine specs is below:

250 bored .040 over (253 now, I believe)
274/274/108 hydraulic clay smith cam (Power band should be 1800-4000, IIRC)
9.8 Static compression, Dynamic.... 7.4, IIRC
1.65 Yella Terra full roller rockers
Forged internals as per Ranchero Bob's build
CI Alum. head w/ street port/polish
Will be mated up to MD hydraulic clutch and V8 T5, and a 9" 3.73 rear end.

Can't decide if I should go with a 500 cfm Holley or Edelbrock 2/4V, or look at a smaller 465 4V Holley... Car will be a weekend warrior, not a track car... Yall insight, as always, is much appreciated. Thank you!!

I used the 500 Holley for two consecutive 304 V8 builds I did and LOVED them! But they were more displacement so lower rpm was not a concern. I am using a Weber 38/38 on my 250 now and it is very responsive. But my large log head is a milder build than yours. So many options!!

I don't have any advise for you, I'm sure other's will. Just wanted to say hell yeah!

Can't wait to hear how it goes.

Whelp boys, I found a 500CFM Edelbrock 4V w/ vac secondaries for sale from a friend of mine, the price was right, so I jumped on it. Gonna break it in with this bad boy, and we will go from there.

Thanks all! Can't wait to give updates on this!
