new here thanks. I have a 1964 fairlane had a 170 replaced with 200 can I use the 81/2 clutch and flywheel with the 9 bell housing thank you ford6man

No I do not think so, the bell locates the starter to the ring gear, but I could be wrong. You could use the 8.5 bell, But the 9" clutch will hold better. Not sure about starters.

Went 9's when 10's was fast.

Hi, I'm not sure. As mentioned if the flywheel diameter is different there will be an issue. Many 200's are drilled for the large and small bellls. I think you have to keep with either the large or small, but not mix it up. Good luck
