Hi, the inline 6 is much longer than the v 6 it came with, and the v6 was very close to the fire wall. Good luck

One of our site members installed a 300 in a Ranger pickup some years back so you might try searching that forum for the posts on it. Basically if a 300 can fit than a 250 should fit too. Good luck on the swap :nod:
 
MechRich has one even better, (in a BII) if U ask me, in the "Orphaned" forum.
He has extensive experience in that motor tho.

If you want more power consider a 4.0L OHV V6.
It's the same engine, just punched out 70 cu in.

o0OP, wrong bronk…ur right, I forgot the 170 i6 & bent 6 had same displacement…
I thought that 4 oh bent6 wuz paned as a dog (?one of the Windstar's motors?)? What wuz it in?

guy here (1 town over) put in the 302/5.0 & 16 inch tires on his early Ranger…
not sure on the rest but I think he pilfered my C4 ('77 bronk) transmission pan as it wuz equiped w/the rarer pan fill pan.
