144 Rebuild update

Hello All, Thanks for following my story and contributing ideas. This site is awesome! Well, I noticed that while I had great idle and smooth operation, I felt that the motor was still lagging a little pep, even for a 144. I advanced the timing to 12 btdc, and operation improved greatly with no ill effects. I'm guessing most of you have discovered that your motors run much better at a higher advance than "spec."

Question for today: Are there some kind of seals inside the 2.77 transmission where the shifting shafts come out the side? I'm getting some trans oil coming out around those shafts.

Long ago, there was a full 2.77 rebuild posted as a sticky. Somewhere here. Jack Collins might have posted it.

If you need parts...the kit is specfically a post 1964 kit, from 1960 to 1963, they missed a syncro ring upgrade. C3DZ-7005-R3 2.77 Ratio Manual Transmission Master Rebuild Kit is for a 65-66 Mustang with a 3-Speed Transmission, not 60-62.
