Choosing a carb (again)

FINALLY got my engine fired up, and it ran like a champ! Except... My carburetor is shot. Gonna be cheaper to buy a new one rather than rebuild that POS... It's bad off. Sooo... Starting afresh, what would y'all recommend?

Car goals: Power and driveability; not a track car so I don't need to sacrifice all else for a little more power, but of course I do want as much power as I can get.

Engine build is listed below... I am thinking a 4 bbl Edelbrock, or possibly a Holley, but I am not sure if I have room for a 4bbl Holley without hitting the shock tower. Or perhaps I am overlooking another option? As always, look forward to y'all help. Thank you!

IIRC, Drive an Edelbrock----Race a Holley. I am partial to Holley's or even better to me are the old Autolites.

Would you recommend an Autolite over an Edelbrock for a street car? What is their size like compared to the Edelbrock?

To be honest I never used any of the later style Eldenbrock carb's only a few of the old AFBs that they are based on. Have heard many complain about the 500's, though I think most people won't take the time to get the tune up right. I do like the Autolites too and have found that they can get a little better economy than most other carb's, though it might be tough to find one that's in great condistion without a through rebuild, but maybe one of the new copies of them now being made.

For my performance builds I have always used a Holley carb! A Holley would probally work very well for your combo of parts in something around 465 to 600 CFM size see below for a link for one example there are also two others in a 575 and 600 CFM that could be dialed in for your combo too. Good luck (y)

For the price of a new carb you could get a FiTech TBI unit. http://fitechefi.com/products/30003/

gus91326 on this forum installed one on his 200. You can see it run here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLjDstrnkQY

His specs are: 65 Mustang 200 cid - 10:1 flat top pistons, CI head and intake, stock crank, 65 forged stock rods, Clay Smith 264/274 108* cam, Yella Terra 1.65 roller rockers, headers that dump into side exhaust.

Something to think about.

Now this... This I like. I think I'm gonna pull the trigger on it.
