Cleaning Block

Hi Everyone. After 8 weeks I finally got my cylinder head back from the machine shop. It was completely rebuilt. All new valves, springs, etc.. Head was milled and intake opening was bored out to 1.75". I also had hardened seats installed. Looking to reconnect it with block this weekend.
I want to make sure the block surface is as clean as possible and ready to accept cylinder head. Looking for recommendations on the best way to clean and prepare block. What to use and what not to use. Is scotch bright a good idea? I heard it may be too rough. What about gasket scrapers? Any tips and advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
