I actually have a 65 Ranchero 200, 3spd, 8" with a 2.8. It sucks man. The weber is nice though, once i got it jetted close enough it runs like a top. Decent mileage, good power.
Definitely do the t5, but depending on your tire size a d what the 5th gear ratio is, you csn go higher than 3.5. Like im looking at modern drivelines t5 and its OD is .63, man i can run a 4.11 with 25" tires and turn 2088 at 60. Whats nice about the 4.11 is that its easier to turn so it is harder to lug atg that rpm, and if need be, downshifting to 4th is about 3200 so plenty of power. I was originally thinking about doing 22" tires with 2400 at 60, but 3800 in 4th, which is a little much. I did a lot of figuring using gear calculators and crap, but my dream set up is the t5 with .63 OD and 4.11 rear posi. But that is gonna cost me about $3700 if i go to modern driveline and go get a locker for the diff. But i believe it will be worth it
