Bought a set of headers for my 1966 mustang. They are made of t409 stainless . Has anyone run these without cermanic coating them? How well did they hold up. I hear t409 will rust without the coating. Any ideas from anyone running headers. Iknow the 200 doesn't get that hot as the big blocks. will I be ok not getting them coated?

to my knowledge stainless steel doesnt rust, at least i have never seen that material rust. and trust me, in 25 years in the hotel industry you see plenty of stainless steel sinks getting beat on everyday, and no rust.

the only time i have seen rust on anything made from stainless steel is when the stainless parts were welded together with mild steel welding rod, thus the rust was at the weld point.

rbohm is correct. Stainless will not rust. But, with the heat. It will discolor.

some say it helps w/heat as well. Not so sure...
I'm on "the budget build" & have forgone that product so
may B if wanting to get "all the bells & whistles" (a $ question?)
