Got this working on my car today!

Got a fiberglass hood and NACA duct- had a local body guy put them together and paint it. Found an aluminum 12"x12" cake pan, added some foam to seal it up and ready to go!

I was able to take some measurements using a magnahelic pressure gauge and validated that at 80 mph I'm getting 1.5" of water right above the air cleaner. SCIENCE!

Not sure what's meant by an inch an a half of water. R U saying that during rain none gets in the carb due to design/placement (or only @ 80 mph it's safe ~ I'm not sure the meaning)?

Nice fabrication.
Since you have an aluminium valve cover, you need to raise your PCV via an extension to get it above the valve cover by at least 2" to prevent oil getting into the PCV. Your only salvation did you install an oil baffle in the valve cover to prevent oil from being exposed to the PCV grommet.
The fresh air will definitely up your HP.

1) Chad: I used a magnahelic gauge that measures pressure differentials. I used it to make sure that I placed the duct in the right sport and also to make sure that the airbox was under pressure at speed. You can use the gauge for all kinds of things, like confirming airflow through a front grill/radiator when diagnosing cooling problems.

2) 65coupe: I got the hood from Unlimited products. It's not the best quality, but they were the only ones out there that were selling a stock flat hood. You can see the underside in the attached pic- I had to add some reinforcing to the hood because it felt too lighweight.

3) WSA111: Thanks- I'm all good with the valve cover; I epoxied some Moroso baffles a while ago and they've done the trick on controlling oil getting past the pcv.

Thanks for the last pic (as well as 1st set), the info on hood manufacturer, your insight into how to work w/such a hood, info on ur gauge & its use in supporting the hood manufacturer's product. I think I have but 2 Qs left (maybe 4)...

* how to order the baffles for the cast VC & how to glue them in

/and/

* how can you drive in the rain w/o sucking H2O into that hood scoop....

I like it cuz my windshield folds down onto the hood and any projection above level will interfere w/other scoop varieties. (y)

1) Chad: The hood and scoop were fiberglass, so working between the two was fairly straightforward. I did have a body guy to the actual cutting and bonding as I wanted it to look good. The reinforcements were just some flat steel to back the inside sections of the hood for a little strength.

The baffles I used were these:

I made sure that the valve cover was CLEAN, positioned the curved section to be the lowest point once it was positioned, and slathered a bunch of two-part epoxy on the ends. I made sure it was dry before installing, and installed them. I checked them at 500 and 1000 miles and they have not been affected by oil or heat. There have been discussions on these as you can drill and bolt them to the valvecovers, but I didn't feel this would work with how the fins were positioned.

As for rain, I live in LA, so not much of that here. I may drill small hole in the back of the pan for drainage. That pan, BTW, is a cake pan that I modified for use here.

2. CZLN6: I have not checked the pressure at the base of windshield, but I can. Let me report back.

I can get a bronk glass hood for round $400... ***Who has ur "underhood scoop"?***

Thanks 4 da moroso baffle referral. The write up in the catalogue informed me to use 14 ga alu, near 4 inches long, bend a 1/2 inch tab on each end (sits offa da 'floor' or right side up - vc top). And as U and others on here do glue in (epoxy) these lill tabs in. I'll hope to do that (when I have $ for Matt's Cast Valve Cover, finned & polished) on the rear only. I'll mount the PCV there and have Matt's frnt Spectra 4279 (has the 3/8 inch barb for hose back to a/c housing) to create a 'closed pvc system'.

There are some interesting things to discover in your engine compartment, which are on the list for my 65 Fastback 200.
Cable clutch, full cable trottle, bigger radiator, V8 suspension (guess from 5 lug wheels) and is it an oil catch can behind the radiator? And what is this electric part below the solenoid?

Can you give details on the both cable items and the oil catch can?

1) The clutch cable is for a V8 Mustang that I adapted to my car. I am using a T5. The engine block I am using is a 1981 block, which almost mates up with a 5.0 v8 bell. I machined bellhousing and flywheel to get it to work with the 200, so that I could use V8 clutches. The cable kit I purchased can be found here: http://transmission.moderndriveline.com ... 18p154.htm

2) The oil catch can is an ebay air/oil separator. It was very cheap and has worked well! It's very similar to this:
