What gives? some kinda paten experation date just reached?
I keep seein more'n more of the knock offs... 6mo ago it was 'our' venerable Autolite 1100, now the 2100 & Carter YF (see below).

Any reports on the value of aquiring any of these (cost v durability & workmanship)? Seems some 1 must have a bit of experience w/the 'Chinese 1100' by now? I saw U post...

Others:
Looks like the YF

Hummmm. What am I missing? I didn't see anything that looked anything like a 2100.

Good question though. I hope you get some responses.

The source of the 'knock-offs is most likely a territory that has no interest in adhering to US/international patent or copyright laws...

and/but, the major USA car mfg's have been trying for years to curry favor with federal politicians to force the stop ANY reproducing of "their" parts wether produced in USA. As in "Genuine GM parts"

here's a little more:

The Honorable Darrell E. Issa, a Representative in Congress from
the State of California, and Member, Committee on the Judiciary:
The auto companies have repeatedly asked for more than what
they could be entitled to and come to this Committee asking for
protection that we are not permitted to grant. Often, the
argument is that replacement parts are inferior, dangerous and,
thus, will in some way be unreasonably produced in a way that
would endanger the public ... .
Since we are fortunate enough to have the right people
here, I will again use the example that a Ford Mustang versus
something that looks like a GT500 Shelby Cobra is not a small
set of replacement parts but, in fact, a huge difference. I
often go to the auctions and watch them also on TV in which the
difference in the value of a 25-, 30-, 40-year-old automobile
based on nuanced differences of whether it was a GTO or just
another off-the-line car that had a few stickers put on it is
significant. And those significant differences should be
respected when they belong to the manufacturer
.

have fun

A few yrs ago, when I wrked 4 a big box parts house (international) our state (I think it also had national significance, ie same issue was B4 the legislat. in other states) a large effort was being conducted to have the auto co. release proprietary info about the vehicles. It was backed (of course) by our company (read "big bucks") SEMA, local garages, etc. so that things of this sort could open up. It seemed the auto manufacturers were on one side - everybody else on the other.

I never heard the outcome (legislation passed) but this may be the answer to the results of that battle...

Not sure how this'll come out but I'll try'n post some e-mails. I heard from D&D. S. & Mike W. that a 'big' six carb could add a lill to the "small" six. Never found one (will go w/a RBS I have soon) but corresponded w/an flee-bay seller on 1. C below. It's in reverse order:

Hello,

I have 2 questions:

How could 1 carb fit such a wide variety of engine displacements - 240 ci thru 429 ci?
What is the bolt spacing for the intake studs / mounting holes?

Thank you,
Chad
