Silly timing question

So... in regards to the little tin marker on the block that has the 10...0...10 timing marks on it that I line up my dot to under the timing light, how to I set at say 18 degrees base timing when the marks stop at 10? Guessing Im way out of whack on how to set timing... take me to class please!

I use the marks on the bracket to transpose the needed degree to the damper and mark the damper...you will have to work it out in your head a little bit...Like make a 10 degree advanced mark on the damper use the 10 advanced on bracket, judge -2= 18 degrees..Make sure that you figure out the right direction.
Or you could buy a dial back timing light, but I do not like fancy stuff that can have issues and cost more money.

Good that's about what I figured the process was and yeah, don't really want to buy another gadget lol

/OR/
use vacuum gauge?
