Solid or Hydraulic Lifters on 1966 170 Bronco ?

Hi

I read in this post that the way to tell whether a lifter is solid or hydraulic is that solid lifters will have a "C" clip, while hydraulic lifters have a wire clip archive/www.classicinlines.com/ValveAdj.html.

None of the 12 in my engine have either (no clips at all), see attached. Any advice on which type of lifter this 170 has is much appreciated !

Tony

That looks like a solid lifter to me...I do not see how it would be possible to be a hydraulic, no way to have any part that moves, being that it is one solid piece of metal.

I think that they would refer to that lifter as the Mae West lifter.

Hi, my 66 Bronco came with solid lifters. I thought they all did.
I think you have an aftermarket replacement lifter.
Good luck
