Building the Six

Ok, so I have read this article several times.

Basically this car started bone stock on the internals with a header, 2v weber and a DUI. It made 79rwhp on the dyno.

4k later, with a cam, aluminum head, 2v weber it made 108rwhp.

Thats a 37% increase, but still seems a bit low for the amount of work this engine had.

Now here is a guy on Youtube who thinks his 200 is putting out somewhere north of 240hp.

Im hoping for 130-150 rwhp out of my mild 250 build.

!

On that first link that is one of our site members "65_coupe", i think he has since built a 250 short block and installed the V.I. Aluminum head on it which I think that 250 build was also recently featured in the magazine too. A Dyno is a great tuning tool though you can have two exact models located within a few blocks and get different reading's, my all time favorite tuning Dyno is still the dragstrip.

I don't know anything about that second YouTube build it looks nice (except for keeping the old Load O Matic distributor) but I would say he's a bit optimistic on the projected power output too. The power your hoping for is certainly doable with the right parts selection. Remember though that on the street "Torque is King and Horse Power will take care of itself". Good luck (y)
