'63 headlight doors

Post #1 by 63RancheroGuy » Sat Jan 30, 2010 12:34 am

Not sure if this is the correct place to ask but are the factory headlight doors (the part that surrounds the headlight and finishes of the front grill) aluminum or stainless? Could be chrome I guess but mine look horrible if its chrome. I was thinking about polishing them up but wanted to check to see if anyone knew what metal they are first.

Thanks,

Adam

they are aluminum with a clear coat over top. Try removing the clear coat, then buff to a high sheen. I was told Over Cleaner will remove the clear coat if it sits on it a day or two, but I've had hit and miss luck with this.

I just reread my printed instructions on this and it says let it sit for only about 20 minutes, not a day or two like I did. Maybe try this length of time first.
