door glass and quarter removal on 61 2 door - help / advice

Post #1 by DOMER94 » Thu Feb 11, 2010 10:04 pm

i need to replace the fuzzy beltline seals and it looks like the glass will have to come out. i have a shop manual and have read that procedure, but i would like to consult the forum on any tricks or easier techniques. i dont have the door handle / window crank removal tool.. is this absolutly necessary?

The glass does not have to be removed, but you do need to remove the window crank, door latch handle, and the door panel. Once you get the panel off you will see there is a big piece of rubber at the bottom of the door that the glass/frame bottoms out on when the window is fully down. With the window up, pry this rubber from the slot it is in and remove it. Then roll your window down and it will roll down an inch or two below the beltline. Now you can replace those fuzzies without disturbing the glass. When complete, roll the window back up and reinstall the rubber stop.
