INSTRUMENT PANEL BULB SOCKET FOR 61 - HELP!!

Post #1 by DOMER94 » Fri Feb 26, 2010 9:00 pm

gents, i have just overhauled my panel. replaced voltage regulator , changed all bulbs, polished up the lens etc etc. i noticed a ground / short situation. all bulbs work except for the left panel backlight illumination bulb and i was getting some arcing when the panel rested on the column. i checked for chafed wires , loose connections ... all that good stuff. after a second and third look, i noticed the metal ground strip in the socket that makes contact with the panel body is missing. does anybody have a socket i could purchase? if you give me a couple inches of wire with it , i can splice in. i cant find them for that year in any of the usual sources. i would like to do it the right way before coming up with some alternate fix.

thanks

You can get a socket that will work at the parts store. It won't be the exact same as the '61 socket in appearance but it will use the same bulb and fit the hole like the '61 socket.
