window regulator question

Post #1 by oldgrezmonke » Thu Jul 15, 2010 12:25 pm

I have a 63 1/2 Falcon 4door . The front passenger door was replaced sometime in the past apparently from an older Falcon . The window regulator on that door winds about 3 turns from full up to full down . The regulator on the driver door goes about 3 1/2 turns for the same positions . Because of this the window handles wind up in different positions and it looks odd . Does anyone when [or if ?] the gear ratio in the regulators was changed so I might find a replacement for one or the other ? Any suggestions ?

I think you might have a sedan rear window regulator. they only go so far as what you are describing. The back windows on the sedan don't go all the way down. Each side is different and you have to make sure for what door you are getting it for.

Sorry for the slow response back , I was fighting with a rear window and processing wood for the heater over the weekend . I have a 4door sedan . All the windows , front and rear , go all the way down and up . I didn't know the rear windows in some models don't go all the way down . The regulator in question just takes a different number of cranks so the handle on the driver side ends in different positions from this one - the passenger side , functional but a minor bother . All 3 others go the same number of turns except that one .

I still have one regulator left for the passengers side. It is in good shape and works great. If interested let me know. Ill let it go cheap.
