cant find this part for a 64 ranchero

Post #1 by 64 200 ranchero » Thu Aug 26, 2010 3:47 am

what is the part that attaches from the leaf spring shackle to the body, i have been driving with the passenger side leaf spring attatched only from the front mount, the other mount is broken in half and is creating a deep groove form sliding against the body, this is a bolt on mount

Are you talking about this? For some reason Ford called this a rear spring hanger.
The same part, 5775, is on a station wagon

Same rear spring hanger problem with the '63 wagon when I got it, also broken leaves on both sides. Looked lilke it had been broken a long time as the rear tires were worn sideways 8) .. Welding steel hangar parts' worked fine. Did eventually find part, someday replace welded pieces...

The fasteners snapped off but access was possible for bolt through if sub-frame not too rusted out. Only wagon and Chero have this I believe.

You could weld it back together and also add extra plate to reinforce it :hmmm:
A bad day Drag Racing is still better than a good day at work!

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

I guess it could work, but I doubt it would have same fastener or spring dimensions as the Falcon spring hanger. Priority now would be to see if/how broken bracket can be removed .

PS When I removed the broken springs I realized the shackle eye-end could be used if you cut and drilled to match original bracket.
