Looking for suggestions for shipping body parts

Post #1 by oldgrezmonke » Sun Feb 13, 2011 10:45 am

I have been looking for a trunk lid for my 63 1/2 . I have found one [thanks , cruzingratiot] as part of a low priced package , that the seller will not separate , of '62-3 parts with 2 doors for a 2door [I forgot to ask sedan or hardtop] and a hood . I would want to sell the unneeded parts . I am not in Falcon country here and not likely to sell nearby . What is the best method to ship a door or hood ? Thanks

I see Greyhound has a weight limit of 100 lbs. for most places . Anybody have any idea how much a hood or 2door door might weigh ?

I believe the hood will make it. You can move that around by yourself. You just need two people to position it properly. The door is very heavy. I don't believe it will make it unless it has no glass or hardware in it. And then it will be close.

Well , I went and got the package deal in Memphis . The trunk lid was the wrong color but otherwise good even had a key for the lock , the hood I would call fair condition and the doors - one fair , one rough - $100 for all + the gas it took . Anybody need a '62-3 hood or '61 Ranchero doors ?
