Better steering question

Post #1 by papawfalcon » Mon May 09, 2011 12:27 pm

In the search for better steering on my '62 Ranchero. I know that the '65 Falcon steering is deamed 2nd after rack and pinion. But when tring to buy a center link for a '65 starts at $150. On another fourm a man used granada steering with different outer tie rods. Now the question is what is the fram width of a Maverick compared to Falcon. Wondering if the Maverick steering can be used on a Falcon. The Maverick center link is about $55.Thanks for thoughts. Ken N.

It’s not likely to fit, as the center link width is set by the chassis width the Mavericks and the other Fords ie Falcons Mustangs are wider 1967 up. So only possible parts will be those that measure the same as the 62 at pitman arm center to center and at the idler arm mounting points no matter what steering box you use.
A bad day Drag Racing is still better than a good day at work!

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.
