You did not get one because you no longer have the Falcon platform to be used as a base and most of the production here does not revolve round the V8's like your Mustangs etc.
V8's are great but Six Inlines Just Fine. Cummins Advert.

why would they do that, they are good on gas, very efficient and it is easy to make insane amounts of power, what is up with v6's what is the benifit of a v design? top end?, i know straights have a major advantage with how the crank angle is set up

Don't tell Volvo then with their 3.2L inline six in the FWD S60 and S80.

Just 'cause they can do it doesn't mean those are not the main design considerations for the V6. In fact, those were the main considerations for the V8 originally.

My Subie has a FLAT six between the front wheels. Olds Toronado had a V8 plus FWD transmission in front. So?

AND size consideration is why the Wankel never got off the blocks big time, not just relatively uninteresting fuel economy. To increase the size of a Wankel, they had to make either increase the circumference of the whole engine or put two end to end. Either configuration would make it too big for a small car.

The other thing is Australia then has to follow Ford USA and we loose not only the inline 6 but the Falcon platform or we will end up with a V6 Falcon on a universal platform.

The same thing has happened with Mazda / Ford based vehicles like the Laser or what ever it is called now.

Makes you wonder why they stuck with it so long then. And in Argentina too.

Not like Fiat selling the blanks to Poland because Polski Fiat would never compete with Fiat in the west European market -----------> Can you say Lada?

The Falcon in Australia did become unique and was only exported to places like New Zealand and South Africa although some of the parts we can say have been used in other Fords in other parts of the world. Globalisation of companies has a lot to answer for much of this as we now see Fords here that have been made in Thailand (was Courier Mazda based now the Ranger).

Ford even purchased Land Rover and then sold them off later so they could get the technology for the Diesel engine to fit to the Falcon platform based Territory AWD.
