F-A-L-C-O-N Letters on Tailgate

Post #1 by pikesan » Sat Dec 31, 2011 2:34 pm

Are the 62-63 wagon tailgate letters same as a 64-65? The part numbers seem to be different:

From Falconparts.com: 1962-1963 BACK PANEL LETTER SETS- FALCON - C2DZ-16606-AF
From Macsautoparts.com: 1962-1963 Tail Light Panel Letter - F-A-L-C-O-N - C2DZ-6440282-ST
Also from macsautoparts.com: 1964-1965Trunk Lid Letter Set - F-A-L-C-O-N - C4DZ-6240282-ST - note C4DZ is different than C2DZ, but the rest of the number is same
From Falconparts.com: 1964-1965 TRUNK LETTER SETS - C4DZ-6240282A (Same as Mac's)

CONFUSED! :bang:

Also, the 1963 Body Assembly manual says the Sedan and Wagon "F-A-L-C-O-N" letters on the back are different part numbers. Why would they do that??

Any help is appreciated... I'm trying to order new letters or get some used ones that don't look crappy...

do not know why there is a difference in part number except that a couple of original emblems are not being reproduced but can be replaced by similar emblems from another year.one example being the earley FALCON fender script 60 and 61 which had closed holes in the letters and the 63 had open holes . most vendors note that the 63 script is not the same as the original but will fit as the pin spacing is the same which could account for a different part #. and the 62 63 and 64 65 falcon rear deck letters are a little different in shape but not sure if the pin spacing is different. c2 is the year the part was introduced being 1962 and c4 being 1964 some parts were carried over to the next year.I would call Falconparts to verify the application.
