ROLLER PERCHES for FALCON

Post #1 by cisco170 » Mon Feb 13, 2012 8:14 pm

hello; made a set of roller perches for my 64 falcon. thought i would pass my experience on, i used an old set, i had after rebuilding my suspension, ordered a set of bearing from daze roller perches and his instructions, i used basic tools mostly a bench grinder, 2" washer to measure as i grind and fit, grind and fit. takes time and care lots of time. after fitting washers, i cut 2" tubing 3" long with a hacksaw, use a sheet of paper wrap it around tubing to get a cutting line, then make tubing fit square to saddle, i picked up a piece of tubing at a muffler shop? sizes varies little from daze instructions, i welded a spacer between bearing so they couldn't move. i had a good welder friend heli weld tubing to saddle on the outside which is plenty, grind the inside weld bumps of the tubing using a hand drill and small grinding stone, fit shaft with bearings in tubing, i pinned over ends against bearings with small bass hammer. will install them this summer when i remove fenders for primer,i worked at Bethlehem steel, Vernon California, our motto Safety First 8) cheers
