Looks good but I think that's a '62 . The trunk lid and taillights are '62 and the hood and front fenders look '62 also though the picture is a bit fuzzy there . Check the serial # under the hood usually on or near the "export" brace - the first number is the year [0-1960 , 1-1961 , 2-1962] . The plate on the door could be wrong [door replaced without plate being transferred] so don't depend on that .
First car - 1961 Falcon Deluxe 4door , had 1968-73
Present - 1963 1/2 Falcon 4door base model , since 2009 ,
frequent driver , work in progress

Nice looking car. We never got a Coupe in that year here.
V8's are great but Six Inlines Just Fine. Cummins Advert.

Very nice! Have been thinking about one of those coupes for a DD with a 250 combo that I have. They are about the lightest of the Falcons and it should really fly with a 300.
A bad day Drag Racing is still better than a good day at work!

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

motor got built and sat for about 5-7 years assembled, it got wet and then redone again, im thinking the springs may be bad and they did not have it balanced very well and they are using the stock balancer, i had read with the 300 and any rpm you must use a good aftermarket balancer or it will shake its self apart ..they get about 3 passes out of it and all the flywheel bolts vibrate loose, they don't know much about motors, my gpa did all the work , ported head, built the intake out of tube and header picked cam and converter etc..and he passed away last may and took all that info with him..

Sorry to hear about your G Pa went through it with my mom in Sept.

Yeah sounds like you are on the right track as the balance is important on a six even a stock 240 / 300 will loosen up bolts over time like the on intake manifold etc. If he maybe used a Stock 302 / or 351W balancer than the balance would be way off. A 300 needs a zero balance damper and flywheel the V8 one's would need to have the balance weight machine off. I have contacted Fluid Damper tech support about a 300 application for my race motor build. They said you would need to use an internal balance (ie zero) SBF damper p/n 650231 this is for the 4 bolt pulleys and than machine a 1/4 inch off the hub for it to fit. I am not sure but think mine may need 3 bolt hub but they make them too just depends on the drive pulley setup I end up using. Good luck with that Falcon

once i get it home i will post up all specs and pictures...gpa even built the intake and header out out tubes..its pretty cool ..at this point no one knows what the cam is..etc..charlie had it in Tulsa back 2006 and made 3 passes when it ran the 8.09 and the flex-plate came loose..the car has sat in the garage since that day..im going to pull motor have it rebalanced get a good ati balancer and see about a new cam , unless the one in it is what i want..knowing g-pa its a pretty nasty cam, i know it sounded just like a v8 at idle till the rpm came up..lol..there is always a big crowd around this car, people just cant believe a straight 6 will run that fast..best 1/4 mile is a 12.25..my goal is 12.00 , so i can run several classes here..i will be able to run the old time drag series...the Oklahoma Gasser associates class.....the 12.00 index class and regular bracket class...

Excellent  With a degree wheel and a dial indicator you should be able to figure out what cam it has. Good luck dialing it in don't think it will hard to get it to run 12:00 or even lower with that combo of parts you have now and the re-balance if it can do 12:25 as is. I want a roller cam for mine, but likely will have to go with a more budget friendly solid flat tapit. Good luck
