Im going from Manual to Auto transmission in my 66 coupe. I have a C4 and shifter, and the cooling, fluid lines. Someone said I needed to change the Starter..(Is that correct??) and the Drive Shaft to a 6 Cylinder Auto or 8 Cylinder Standard. I thought just a yoke change was need and the shaft shortened.
Also I require a Dashpot for a Autolite 1100 carburettor , pony carbs don't sell then individually so Im stuck.
I anyone has a spare Yoke, Kick down cable, for a 200 6 Cylinder please give me a email.
Thanks

Manual to Automatic Changover

Re: Manual to Automatic Changover
I think you will need the C4 drive shaft (I6 auto, V8 manual/auto) because the manual transmission '65/'66 drive shafts had a different U-joint in front as well.
I think the accelerator pedal and rod assembly are different as well on the auto trans cars. The have an arm welded to the accelerator rod assy which point straight down. This is what the cable attaches to.
I'm not sure about the starter arrangement.

My first 'Stang was an I6 '65 FB but sold it when I bought a V8 version.
I've been a V8 person ever since until now: I just bought a '65 200 I6 Mustang Coupe.
So now, I'm Back Inline!
