Hi All,
I have a 59 Edsel with 223 and 2 speed auto as came from the factory, but the original 223 was replaced years ago with a good running/rebuilt 223 because the block is Ford Red, not Edsel Black. Also, the generator bracket is curved down halfway over the generator instead of a 59 Ford straight slotted bracket, On the drivers side lower block edge right above the oil pan edge right above the drivers side motor mount is a casting number starting with EDP, as I think the block is a 57 or 58, but not 61-64 as they have the shoulder bolts on the valve covers as the older 223 has the 2 top studs as mine has now..
Would the build date be in this casting or anywhere else?
