I have been reading in the Ford 1952 Shop manual, about 215 pistons. In the book that they say that the 215's bore is 3.56, same as the 279 form the V8, but here comes the question the stroke is off by .10 inches due to that the 215 is bigger. If I was to stroke the 215 would the 279 work? IF not what pistons would? Also why did Ford cut the 215 in ’53?

As you can tell I am planing to build this engine a little different than other people that I know of. Due to that the same old 215 is nice, but you don’t see a lot of stroked 215 out there.

If any you have any questions fell free to leave me a message.
Thank you,
Paul

You don't have to stroke the 215...it was replaced by the 223 in '54. All that Ford did was bore the 215 over by .060" to 3.62".
