Years ago I bought a tool from J C Whitney that was used to help adjust your fan, generator and power steering belts. It was a simple tool but very useful. You loosened the adjusting bolts, placed the tool between the pulleys and expanded it with a wrench until the belt was in tension. Then you tightened the bolts and removed the tool.
Well, I lost some of the parts to mine and had a heck of a time finding someone who still sells them but I finally did. Here's the link to it for anyone who is interested.
