towing with a 223?

Hello everyone,
I have a '61 Ford Unibody Longbed with a 223 and granny 4-speed. I was considering using it to tow my 3000 lb car on an open trailer once a month or so. The suspension has been beefed up a little with extra leaf springs and I have front disc brakes on the front straight axle. I would like to keep this truck original as possible except for maybe adding some aftermarket hp goodies on the motor. Should I use this combo or do you think using my 302 c4 combo I have sitting in the garage would be better?

The 223 makes peak torque at about 1100 rpm. It may not rev too high, but for towing, low end torque is what you need! 8)
