223 carb gasket?

On me earlier post (223 spitting back thru carb) I forgot to mantion that I hand made the base gasket and aonly cut out he throat and mounting holes. Are there other passages that need cut out. Thanks again.

Usually the base gasket has a hole or slot but it also depends on what the carbs base looks like. There needs to be a combined Engine Manifold / Venturi vacuum source or feed from the base to work with the LOD distributor, so make sure you have a vacuum signal is still going to the SCV on the carb to operate the distributor correctly. See link below for more info on how an LOD system works. Good luck.

In other words, you made a carb base standoff insulator out of phenolic? Or you cut out a carb base gasket out of gasket material?
Do you see any additional cutouts in the old gasket? Normally if there are any passages required, they are notched out in the bottom of the carb base itself. To my knowledge you need only cutout for the throat and the two mounting holes.
