Will the starter off of a later model 223 fit a 1953 215? What is the interchangeability of the 215 starter? I have a '53 215 and need a starter. The later models are more readily available.

Hi, Maybe the supplier can tell you if they interchange. I think the 1953 will be 6 volt, after 56 or so, 12 volt. I had a late 1940s generator rebuilt by a local shop, and it's been working great for over 10 years. What is wrong with your starter? We used to change the bendix drive on the workbench. Good luck
