I am having trouble locating any info addressing the normal operating temperature for the 223 six. The temps on mine (55 F100) are 190 to 200 when I'm going 60mph plus. Thanks. Steve
You're welcome, in many Dyno tests it's been show that generally an engine operating at 200 degrees also makes the most power and is more efficient so your cooling system seems to be operating correctly. The normal operating ranges of these early engines was about from 180 to 210. Fuel economy usally goes up with a bit higher temps too, so today's newer engines are designed to operate at even higher temps. Good luck
