EFI Pedestal With Crane 52655-2 Stud Convertion Kit

Post #1 by old28racer » Tue Oct 10, 2017 11:28 pm

Has anyone out there used a Crane rocker arm guide plate conversion kit (52655-2 that installs a 7/16 rocker stud with the stud bottom threads 5/16 that go into a stock 1992 EFI pedestal mount. Are they good for 85/90# seat pressure and 220/225# open pressure?

This is going on a ford 300 4.9L motor. This build is a mild over stock that will be in the 4500-5500 max RPM range, with an RV cam & 1.7 BBC roller rockers. Spring rate is bit over stock spec's, 1.94/1.60 valves, Offy Dual Port Intake, 9.0 CR with D dish pistons and block milled .020". May make 180 - 200 HP if I am lucky.

If you go that route, post your success!
I solved this deal with an earlier head.

I'd considered that route, but settled for making my pedestal mounts work as well as possible. I have in the past owned an engine that was converted (not a 6 cyl) and they machined considerably more than the pedestal off, to allow for the proper geometry and the guide plates under the studs. Still took forever to sort it, but it rocked once I did.
