Edelbrock/Carter AFB throttle linkage

Post #1 by jgetti » Mon Oct 17, 2005 5:38 pm

All,

I've finally gotten my engine dropped in the truck and am now eyeballing how I want to do the throttle linkage. The truck has a C6 cranny, and I've already purchased the kick down cable from Lokar. As far as the throttle goes, the truck is a 1980 and has the cruise contol bellows/canister that still works (or did before this rebuild). I'd like to see what others have done as far as the throttle cable choice, direction of carb mount, pictures if possible. I would especially like to see pictures with the edelbrock/Carter AFB style carbs if possible.

Thanks!

I have pics of mine, but my carb is sideways like it is on a Dual Port intake.
I had to have a new cable cause my stock one was too short. I bought a cable for a 90 F-150 302 truck, and I bought a universal cable bracket both from AutoZoo.

I'd appreciate pics if you can provide them. Thanks for the info!

My son and I are installing an Edelbrock 1403 on an Offy dp intake. We need suggestions for the throttle cable routing etc...

80Broncoman if you are still active maybe some pics of yours.

Our throttle stud pulls to the passenger side. Stock cable pulls to drivers side.

We are thinking of trying to run about 60" of cable around the front of the carb (front of truck). I haven't been able to find any cables long enough with the proper ends.

I've run into this on Jeeps. My solution was to run a spacer (in your case it would have to be a 4 hole), extend the throttle arm down and cable pull from the bottom instead of the top.

Make a bell crank. You can change travel ratios if necessary for optimum.
