Ekonokrate update....

Post #1 by mutt » Wed Aug 08, 2012 2:16 pm

Been quite a while since I posted....well, the thing just runs, don't it? For the record: 80 ekono, 300, Offy C, Motorcraft 1.21 2150, intake bowl work, intake valve relief in combustion chamber, port matched, Chebby rockers, head milled .030 or so, FI exhaust, thru gutted cat & glaspak. Stock ignition, FI types plugs. Iron OD 4sp, 3.08 limited slip, 7.00/15 Yokohama 215 truck radials, tall & skinny, just how I likes them....
hauling 2 HDs, 200 lbs of extra kit, and a trailer 3200 plus miles from Toronto to burning E Montana, 17.5-18.5 MPG and better. thats staying under 65, staying under 55 would return even better. I got a #2 power jet in the carb, I don't need the extra gas any time before that, and I can keep above that easy enough even on the steeper angles. I would like 9-1 CR. No higher. A lot of power to be had there, but no easy, cheap way, dangit.
I used about 1.5 qts oil (!)- thats with, i dunno, 40 k plus miles on it w/ Hastings cast iron models in the 150K mi bore- you could barely feel the ridge. THAT engine block is a series bit of kit. Nickel in there, I imagine.
It just runs, and runs well. So far, the multiple undercoats has kept salt rot at arms distance....
Howdy to all

I checked the odometer against 100 miles of a highway mileage marker, and factored in the corrected #-4% off-when usin a calculator to figure fuel consumption, which i did every fillup. So the numbers are fairly accurate....

 Sounds like a good combo
A bad day Drag Racing is still better than a good day at work!

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.

Hey Mutt! Howthehellyareya? Welcome back to MT. Glad to see you are still a loyal 300 jockey and your faithful steed is still alive and kickin. Thought you might have decided to stay up there in Canukistan. Have missed your salient wit and commentary around here. Hope to hear more from you.

So I'm just a c-6 delete from your results, since the rest of my motor matches yours. Still thinking 700r4 to go with my 3.00 diff. More Krates! Mine also just runs and runs still makes a mad noise when I let it

If anybody is interested sitting out North of Dad's barn is a late 70's 3/4t 300 (unknown transmission -- I never looked) full sized van medium/dark blue with 8lug rims and dog dish center caps. It is the cargo type, no windows and only 2 seats.. I always mean to take a picture or 3 of it, but somehow I always forget...
