TECH TIP - Dual In / Out SS muffler / X-ovr pipe

Post #1 by THE FRENCHTOWN FLYER » Thu Mar 14, 2013 2:28 pm

While perusing my latest JEGS catalog I came across a muffler that I think may just be the hot ticket for our sixes.
It is the DynoMax Ultra-Flo X, a totally stainless steel muffler with a dual inlet / dual outlet design that incorporates an "X" crossover pipe within the muffler. That sounds like it would work swell on a six having dual exhaust outlets, like EFI exhaust manufolds. Cost is $129 and it comes with the pipe sizes of 2 1/4 (# 289-17552), 2 1/2 (#289-17553)or 3 inches(289-17554) .

Has anybody tried one of these yet? I think one is going on my Attic Anglia.

That looks like it could be the "cat's pajamas"!

Interesting might have to give one a shot.

I have had NO luck searching for a set of flanges to bolt to the EFI manifolds with the keeper and the right flare.
Do you happen to know of a maker/part # for these in stainless would be even nicer but i'll take what i can get.

 Hi FTF.Have been looking at these for a couple of years now.TIGHT budget means saving pennies(literally) to get one.IF it works half as well as claimed,it should be the"cats whiskers"as my Dad used to say.
Good luck.Have fun.Be safe.

Haven't tried the dynomax but I've got the magnaflow built in x pipe and love it.

I have a Dynomax Ultraflow Alum. coated. Dual 2.25 in, single 3 in. out, mounted where the Cat. would go. Really like the sound, but worry it will get louder. It blows out a little fiber packing now & then. Might put a Turbo muffler out back, if needed. Have seen that dual X, like it too.

The glass mesh is the only thing that worries me even though its continuous filament. I would like stainless "Brillo" better I think.

I wonder what it would sound like if you used this muffler as the x pipe/resonater up close to the engine and then put a couple of flowmasters out back should give it a throaty rumble but take out some of the buzz ill try it and post a clip
