air horns?

Post #1 by herosandwich » Sun Apr 27, 2014 1:12 am

not sure what the technical name for them is, can anyone give me a link or a name for what you'd use to cap the top of a carb, but not a standard filter element, a filter element with a horn for a cold air inlet? trying to do something similar to this as doghouse dynamics tend to make hot air a problem.

Carb Hat

Post #5 by Econo4spd » Fri May 09, 2014 11:20 pm

try searching for carb hat. I think it's an old 40's or 50's hot rod term.

Spectre makes 3 or 4 different ones.

98499 is the lo profile one with a single snorkle for a 5.125" carb, but is 7.5 or 8" in diameter.

They make a dual $$$norkle model also.

They make another that is about 4" tall, smaller in diameter.

Summit or Jegs carry some of their models, but not 98499.

thanks econo. the word I was looking for (see also search term) was carbureted plenum. which now that I think about it, makes quite a bit of sense.
