Multiple carb Intake ?

Post #1 by 1952ford » Mon Dec 18, 2017 7:22 pm

I have been thinking of Building my own intake. The options i have come up with are

3 holley 94s Old but rebuildable

3 Carter YF newer carbs and a factory option
and what about 3 weber 40s? 6 barrels? would look cool

or two autolite 2150s or 2100s

I like the idea of the 3 Webers for the looks but i would assume with 3 carbs the intake would need almost NO plenum
Any ideas

Weber's are primarily an IR style carb and need no plenum. Many have used the newer 300 EFI lower intake runners and fabbed a top and plenum for multi-carbs. FTF has done it and a few others have also. Seems to have worked out well for them.

I have entertained the EFI lower idea.....but now i see someone on Ebay is selling lazer cut flanges for the intake.

Do you think the webers would be best for a street engine in a light car?? or maybe the motorcraft 2100 ?

Re: 3 YF carbs

If you go to http://www.inliners.org and look on the Tech Tips page you will see a 3 x 1 intake made from three stock 1V intakes. Might be your cuppa tea.

I think you would have less problems with a common plenum, especially if you have progressive linkage.

That's a real nice Mustang. It would be right at home cruising Woodward Avenue.
