duraspark II distributor parts

Post #1 by Retoropak » Wed Nov 13, 2019 11:42 pm

I was redoing advance plate in my dizzy (modified 21L to 10-11L) and when assembling it back the snapring/circlip holding the outer shaft with advance plates to the inner shaft went airborne and disappeared somewhere in my garage.

Do you know any source for the duraspark dizzy parts?

Google havent returned anything for that circlip.
Its a new old stock motorcraft dizzy that i put maybe 5-6k miles on. i would hate to have to buy a new distributor.

Thanks

obviously u do not have the previous dist. to rob parts from.

carquest or napa should have that as a stocking part. the ford parts were all SAE sizes, or that era, and though I'm unfamiliar with the exact part, it stands to reason that such a clip would be readily available .

old dizzy was eec, I tossed it when I converted my truck to duraspark.
This clip is kinda special. .264" id and made of thin wire with ends bend 90 degrees up. I checked grainger and mcmasterr with no luck.
I also bought cheapo 30 dollar amazon special distributor but it has a screw instead of a circlip

Does motorcraft still make these dizzies?

Ill check NAPA.

Thanks

failing all that... if there is no success, u can lock into ur auto electrick store where they may rebuild dist. kinda unlikely but possible.

I have a 1356 t case in pieces on a cart. it has been there 10 years, why? cause I lost the special clip for the shifting linkage....

Have you checked with NAPA in their Echline electrical parts line? A sure clip would probably work as a substitute. You could also try contacting site member " Bill, wsa111" to see if he has some spares or a sorce, in the below link. Or if all else fails and you have no other choice you could try making your own. Good luck in the hunt.

A bad day Drag Racing is still better than a good day at work!

I am still hunting for a project car to build but with my current low budget it's not looking so good. My Ex- Fleet of Sixes these are all long gone! :bang: 1954 Customline 223 3 speed with O/D, 1963 Fairlane project drag car with BB6, 1977 Maverick 250 with C4, 1994 F-150 a 300 with 5 speed.
