Ford 300 Turbo Planning / Prep

How's much of an advantage of clearing the whole shoud vs just cleaning up the points?

Anything you do to improve airflow through the engine will allow you to make more HP.

When unshrouding my fours, I noticed boost came in sooner. Same result with oversize valves. I would want full boost by 1600-1700 RPM in a truck engine.

With boost, making the exhaust seat wider to help shed heat from the exhaust valve is a good idea (.080" is where I set mine).

I would run the Speed Pro pistons with the big dish. Static compression less than 8:1 is desirable with boost and pump gas. Speed Pros tend to be heavier than the KB stuff too.

Ok, I feel behind a little bit and the engine I was after sold. I have my eyes on a new one but it has 300K miles on it. Is that an option for a turbo rebuild or should I go with something lower mileage? Price is +/- $100 for all kinds of blocks. This one is $500, was in a 4x4 step side. Truck looks in good condition and was paired with a manual. Just have some concerns over doing a turbo build with such an old engine, not so much the block but the heads and injectors.

1993 EFI mated to the 5 spd in a 4x4 truck. I was originally getting one from a van, then I looked at 4x2 but this seller has actually been helpful and its the cheapest one ive found, likely due to the miles. He said it was run tested before they took it out.

Ok, I have done some research and here are the potential donors (prices include any shipping):

#1
1996 F150 4x2; UNKNOWN MILEAGE
$585

#2
1992 F250 4x2; UNKNOWN MILEAGE
$584

#3
1994 F150 4x2; 178,000
$575

#4
1989 F150 4x4; 116,000
$585

#5
1994 F150 4x2; 148,000
$650-700 (shipping cost estimate)

#6
1993 F150 4x2; 137,000
$575

Based on these numbers and no other knowledge it seems like #3 is the smartest choice, however the 300k mileage is still cheaper by about $100. Anyone know how cheap you can get them at a pick n pull in NY?

I have decided not to purchase any of them. The cost of shipping is too high, I am going to keep an eye out locally and budget $300 for the engine.
