Lynx/SU Manifold Questions

Post #1 by GreasyNRusty » Thu Jun 06, 2019 4:29 pm

I have long-standing question (along with "What is the meaing of life" and "Do we have enuff beer?"):

Looking at the Lynx website, manifold M189: https://www.lynxauto.com.au/ford-250-2v-falcon-3-x-su-1-3-4-manifold.html, each separated manifold segment (i.e., 3 segments, 2 cylinders each segment, 1 carby per segment) has a boss atop with what looks to a drilled and through-tapped hole.

British and Japanese (Austin/Nissan) inline engines with multiple SUs have always had a balance tube; would a balance tube provision be one of the purposes of these drillings?

Cheers, Eddo

If you look at the picture of the manifold's mating surface with the head, there are channels machined between the separate carburetor segments. These are the "balance tubes" between the carbs.
