T5 into XF problems

I'm having a problem with my conversion to T5 from 3spd auto.

I am having problems with the front two bolts of the shifter fouling on the trans tunnel. I have the T5 crossmember, i purchased a new one from the local dealer.

I have made just enough room by using a hammer and some washers to space down the crossmember.

I prefer to know why this problem has occured, and also when I get my short shifter this problem is going to rise again, as the clearance that I have created with the spacers will not be enough with the extra thickness of the base of the short shifter.... yes the clearance is that small to the trans tunnel.

cheers for any help.

Paul.

The mount for a late model Mustang or other Fox car is too tall.

Look for a mount from an early Mustang or Falcon with a C4 or 3 spd. It bolts right to the T-5 and is a little shorter.

XF's had a non removable tunnel section, so just nip it back till it clears or smack it with a hammer. Don't go spacing the crossmember down, it might give you clearance but it will also throw all your driveline geometry to buggery.
