XD/ZJ rear disc brakes

Hello!

I seem to have no end of troubles keeping the handbrake working on this rotten rear end. I've had the calipers rebuilt, they adjust up OK for a year or so then they go to junk again.

1) Is there a solution using better parts? I'm considering seeing if the backing plate, rotor, bracket, etc. from an EF/EL will fit the older housing. Maybe a ZK/XE?XF/ZL caliper will fit better?

2) Fix the stupid handbrake mechanism? There never seems to be anything worn in there, they always work for a while.

For the record, the rear axle is from a ZJ fairlane, 2.92LSD with disc brakes. It's fitted to an XE wagon. I don't want to dump the diff because it's quiet and with the 4-speed auto it's great on the highway.
