4.0L SOHC Special

Started on the sump, as we wanted it as low as possible (flywheel now level with bottom of sump) had to make wings to carry enough oil and for it to be clear of the crank.

wicked.

wish we had more xflows in the US. Beautiful work.

The 4.0 is a generation newer than the 4.1 Crossflow. More power, less cubes.

We were going to go with the Barra engine 4.0L twin overhead cams, but it was easier to add an old school dissy to the SOHC (to keep it with the style of the build)

Been a bit of progress, chassis is paneled, tail is finished, seats and dash done, just need to skin the bonnet and nose cone.

Thanks Guys
The old man has been busy paneling lately.
Start of the cold air box fed by a NACA duct and the front opening (duct is mainly there to break up the side) Its a bit difficult to see it yet, but the bonnet will form the top half of the airbox and the bottom half is the chassis top plate. Filter will be in with the masters and open to the front and NACA duct.

I want to hear it :D

Once the engine is rebuilt, I'll put a clip up on YouTube. Should sound pretty good.

The bonnet is skinned and now working on the humps for cam cover and carbys.
Getting close...

Fantastic project! My only question, why did you go carbs over efi?
Weber Growl?

Maybe. Six throttle bodies with injectors would still make the 'noise'.

Perhaps they like cranky Italian stuff? :p

Hi Guys
Been on holidays, sorry for the late response.
Well we did toy with the idea of EFI in the early stages, but decided against it for a few reasons.
1. Cost
2. Wanted to try and keep it as period as possible (50's / 60's) without cutting our nose off
3. The old man is 70 now, so this is what he played around with in his youth.
4. Simple to work on....
Plus it will sound great !!

I see the forum has been hacked by some clown again. I feel sorry for the administrators that have all this extra work put on them. :banghead:

We finished painting the stripe yesterday, but before I post those pictures I'll re-post the ones that were deleted.

These ones are of the body work completed ready for paint.
