4.0L SOHC Special

The day finally arrived to put life into the old girl.
Finished off a few things and then it was time to kick it in the guts.
Engine started pretty much straight away and ran smoothly.
The only problem we had was with the power steering rack, leaked out the input shaft. :banghead:

Here's some video of its second start for the day.

Just need to weigh it and work out what spring poundage to get.
Than its off to the Dyno / Track for a shake down.

Cheers guys, yes there were a few beers to be had

By all indications it should sound good at full song around the track.

We took it to the dyno earlier this year and had a promising start, but after only a few pulls the ignition module died......
After it was run in, the first full pull made 243rwhp. It was running a bit rich, but we didn't have the right jets so tried adjusting the timing and this is when it died.
Pretty happy with the initial power.

First race meeting the old man took it easy, bedding brakes and getting a feel for it.
The second meeting he opened her up a bit more and it was looking good, but, the old dreaded but.....
It popped a welsh plug (when was the last time you heard that...) and game over.
So engine is out and it doesn't look too bad, will re-ring it and make positive locks for the welsh plugs.
Will miss the 3rd meeting (next weekend) then theres a break until much later in the year (track is been re-surfaced after the V8's in June)

We use bearing retainer loctite on welsh plugs in the saloon cars. Never had one come out yet.

Keep the updates, this is a cool build.
