ok my car is equipped with this POS :devilish: :devilish: :devilish: management system (has vave air flow meter) that cant be chipped or retuned so basically im stuck as to performing anything but the most basic mods (e.g exhaust...which is 2 1/4 with extractors already).
has anyone tried swapping for later ford management (ea or similar) and how did they go?
what about the crow cam recomended for these engines, is it worth the cost?, because the gains look like they would be mild to me.
what can i do to the motor from here? (im happy with the handling/stopping and ill wait till i find a cheap 5 speed b4 i do anything to the tranny/diff).

I'd update to the later EEC4 unleaded EFI system if could.

Power out-puts to 180 hp can be accomodated without ECM changes in the earlier models. As long as you don't go over 280 degrees, and if it's auto, if you have a 2500 rpm stall and 3.45/3.5:1 gears, your current system shouldn't throw a wobbly. Dick Johonston ran a 280 cam on a 2.77:1 geared XF with BW T5...no problems with the ECM.

If I have time, I'll post a mag atricle reference that proves what I'm saying.
